Update!

Well the past two weeks have been crazy busy! My sister got engaged, we planned a surprised engagement party and managed to keep it a surprise, and left for West Virginia to go on a family Ski Trip! Which is where I am not. I am actually in a little corner of our ski lodge because I have zero cell phone service and the wifi is barely holding up my internet connection! Here's a few photos!

Well there you go. You are officially up to date! And yes that is the closest thing that I brought on the trip that even remotely looked like an outfit... and I love it. This is the first trip I have been on in years where I didn't bring a single pair of heels. I actually only brought two pair of shoes. Boots and tennis shoes. My husband was so proud.

Late Night

So this outfit was actually from last week. This might break some blogging rules but whats really funny is that I wore a different version of this same outfit today! So we can count it as today's outfit too! See now everyone's happy!

So everyone is familiar with Pinterest now right? OK good. Oh and your obsessed to? And every sentence that you say starts with "So I saw this thing on Pinterest" No, just me? Dang it. Ok well I started trying some DIY things and I really want to do more things! There are a few things on my list that I really want to try.

1. vinyl clutch: I am constantly switching purses and I love being able to make several different colors. Both look fairly easy so these are both on my list of DIY. Click on the picture to see the blogs and tutorials.

2. Tailoring Trousers: I have so many pants/jeans that are no longer in style. Even though they are still in great shape they are just out of style and probably never fit properly in the first place! I think tailoring them would be a great idea. I mean what do I have to lose? This tutorial looks like it will be a easy to try and even comes with a video!

3. Sew a Maxi Skirt: This skirt looks so comfy! I think this will be a great skirt no matter what the occasion. I also love this color. This tutorial is great too and makes the sewing look like a breeze.  We shall see.

See what Pinterest does! I think about making all these great things then I get home at night and blog about them instead of making them.

Feature: Audrey Mae

This is Audrey Mae, the 5th sister in our family of Six girls. In the past year Audrey has gone from wearing only soccer shorts and flip flops to this! Yes this post is making me feel extremely old! She is a freshman in high school and a starter for the varsity soccer team... GO VIKIINGS! She had the hardest abs I have ever seen on a 15 year old, she is constantly laughing, and dancing. When she was younger my mom was constantly telling her to "stop moving your hips like that!"

Here is a little on her style:
Whats your favorite place to shop? Forever21
What is your favorite thing to wear right now? Leggings, Boots, and Nike shorts (Not worn together I hope!)
What is one thing that you are ready to wear for Spring and Summer? a bikini! (I would too if I had her abs!)

There she is, Audrey Mae, our dancing, soccer playing, and bikini wearing sister.
You can follow her here on Twitter @MaeBell22

Church Clothes

Every Saturday night whenever I was little my mom would make us go lay out our church clothes. I also without fail always had a run in my panty hose and with six girls there never seemed to be a good pair of panty hose...ever.
I wore this to church Sunday and I had to talk myself out of wearing it to work today. I love this outfit. These shoes have been in my closet for three years and I never wear them. It was like getting a free pair of new shoes! Score.
Also please excuse my laughing in these pictures. There was an extremely nosy woman that just could not figure out what we were doing!

Oh hey there Handsome!
Ryan likes his picture take every now and then too!

Love Hate

Me and white shirts have a love hate relationship. I love white shirts, white shirts hate me. Today I feel like I made a break though in my career of wearing white shirts. I managed to eat tomato soup without one spilled drop! It is also a break through that I didn't get home with some kind of pen mark, makeup smudge, or dirt from my car spot. Look who's growing up! Tomorrows Friday!

Casual

I just realized that I wore blue two days in a row. This is probably broken some fashion rule but you know what at 6 am when its still dark outside and I'm tripping over what seems like every pair of shoes that I own I just grabbed the first thing that didn't need ironing. Whats even worse. This actually should have been ironed. Oh well I think I will claim this as my casual outfit for the week.  I'll do better tomorrow!

I seem to be purchasing a lot of blue pieces lately. This dress may be one of my favorite work dresses now and I originally purchased it for a semi formal event. It has a low back and large sleeves but with this navy blazer on top you cant tell and ta da remixed!

Go-To

Well since last week I failed in the blogging world, I thought I owed it to the blogging universe to post first thing Monday night. I even stayed in my "work clothes" until my husband got home to take pictures. That's an entire extra hour in heels. Can you say dedication? Well I think my go-to outfit is capri pants and a blazer and I am ok with that.  Have a great week everyone.

Just a little self portrait. He hasn't realized that "No Shave November" ended three months ago.
Check out those curls... swoon.

Feature: Katy Lu

Since the weekends usually consist of me trying really hard to not wear anything other than leggings and t-shirts, I thought that I would feature one of my sisters. This is Katy Lu. She's 23 and the 3rd oldest. (there are 6 girls) If there was a sisters that is most like me if would be Katy. She can quote the entire Grinch movie (in the Grinch voice) and works at a Cupcake Boutique as the main baker and manager.

Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes?
Lotus (a local boutique) and that is where her dress is from.
What is your favorite item of clothing/shoes?
My camel knee high boots from Target I wear them with everything and they are my boyfriend’s favorite. :)
What is one thing that is trendy right now that you can't stand?
Combat boots. I hate them.
How would you describe your style?
(at this point Katy started singing this) "Fresh and clean when I step out on the scene.” (Yea I have no idea how that describes her style but I guess that's just Katy)
If you were every stranded on an island what is one beauty item that you would take with you? Straightener! I can’t stand frizzy hair!
What are you looking forward to wearing most in the spring?
Springy dresses and sandals.

Happy end of the weekend everyone!

Organize

We live in a home with extremely tiny closets. In fact our bedroom does not even have a closet. So since we don’t have children I turned one of our rooms into a closet! I have no idea how I convinced my husband to give me an entire room for my clothes and shoes but it happen and I’m not complaining.

I’m using Kendi’s Working Closet Series and Ruche’s One Week to a New Closet to get inspiration for my closet and how to make it more organized and work better for me. One thing that I do different from the beginning is get organize. I feel like if I am organized I can then see better what I want to change, sell, swap, well you get the point. When I was growing up and I would have to clean my room my Mom made us move everything to the middle of the room and then put things where they need to go. It made everything else clean and organized so it was easier to put things away where they go. I still do the same thing today (thanks Mom). So my first step is to get organized. I first hung up all my clothes. If they could fit on hanger I hung them up. Then I color coded everything, separated my pants, skirts, and dressed away from my shirts. I also bought a rack just for work clothes. I found this makes things so much easier when I’m getting dressed in the morning.  The armoire was given to us and it first I had no idea what to do with it. I didn’t really like the idea of using it as a clothes rack and now I love it with my shoes on it and then perfect to hang extra hangers at the top.
Now that this is done I am going to go back through this week and purge! Then I’m getting together with a couple friends for a swap party. I love this idea and I can’t wait to have my first swap.

OK so I was brave enough to post pictures of my closet so let’s see yours! What have you done in the past when organizing your closet? What works for you?

Ombre

I don't know why but I can not get enough of the color Blue lately. A majority of the dresses or shirts that I have purchased over the last couple of months have been blue. I also love ombre. Hopefully I will be dying my hair this shortly.... Ombre not blue.

Diet Coke

Is it possible to have writers block this early?! I blame it on the lack of Diet Coke I have consumed today. That would be zero. This is huge for me. I think the answer to everything is Diet Coke. But one of my new years resolutions was to drink more water and less caffeine. Its hard. I'm slightly addicted to caffeine. I love Red Bull too but that's a different story.

This top and skirt are both thrifted! I am so proud of these two buys. They were both less than $3 a piece. Can you tell how proud I am. My husband was even more excited.
I think I'll go get a Diet Coke and watch Bones. I'm also addicted to anything Emily or Zooey Deschanel.

Weekend Update

My husband and I along with my sister and her boyfriend decided to run a half marathon coming up in March. When we signed up it was before Thanksgiving and plenty of time to train. Yea well the holidays got in the way of any training and my poor 3 miles that I can run is just not going to cut it when going up against 13.1. I physically hurt when I look at think about running that many miles.  So a few weeks back I searched the races in our area and decided we should at least run a 5k then a 10k before the half marathon.  The 5k was supposed to be this weekend. So Friday night I look up the race course and it was not a 5k but a 10k. We decided to go ahead and run. I will spare you the details but we did finish. I was very proud of us both. Although it was not pretty I am glad that we went through with it. My body is still aching.
The most important thing is I have a t-shirt to prove it.
After the race and a long shower we had a Mardi Gras ball. For those of you not familiar with Mardi Gras you will be hearing more on the topic later. If you want me to send you a King Cake, Moonpie’s and beads just let me know!

Networking

One major part of my job description is networking. Last night a friend and I went to an event for our area chamber to network. It’s kind of intimidating. Walking around trying to make awkward eye contact with someone before introducing yourself and trying to explain what company you are with. Last nights event was even worse because the space where it was being held was so small and there were so many people. So add having to speak yell at the person you are talking, it takes work people! I try my best to stand out at these events so that I have a better chance of being remembered. “Oh yea that was the lady in the hot pink dress” See how that works. This belt I borrowed from my sister who I got slumber party with last night. That is her and her husband’s dog Major, he likes to sit in your lap like he’s a Yorkie, and he loves pulling me down the street whenever I try to walk him… or him walk me. Good times.

Jacket: Local Boutique, Dress: Old Navy, Shoes: Steve Madden Belt: Sister Kelsey's (thats my actual sister, not to be confused with a brand)
