8, 9, and 10

You know those days where it rains and rains and you wish more than anything that you could just be at home snuggled up on the couch with your puppy some comfort food and Lifetime TV? Well that was today. No really it rained and rained and I got to spend the day on the couch with my puppy, comfort food and Lifetime!

So your getting three outfits today and no complaining that one outfit is pretty much the same!
The 9th and 10th outfits are my day to night outfits. I always see magazines take a look from day to night and so I thought I would give it a try. I just traded in my flat boots for a pair of heels, a sparkle belt (that you might not be able to see in these pictures), smokey eyes, and a super easy updo!
I love both these looks.

This is my snuggle puppy (Betsie) and these are my bright yellow walls.

Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater

I swore that I wasn't going to let you all in on my secret but guys I lied! I am ashamed to announce that I have cheated on the 30 for 30 challenge... It hurts my heart it really does but let me try and talk my way out of this OK?! Here's the deal. I have never been to Disney World. Let me let that sink in. I am 24 and NEVER been to Disney World. I didn't think it was that big of a deal either. Actually it never really bothered me because I really didn't know what I was missing. HOWEVER! Three years ago I went with my Husbands family and after only 3 hours in the park I had to come back home because I was extremely sick! I was so close I could taste it, and then it was ripped out of my hands!! (am I getting any sympathy here?) I  tell you all that to say this: I have been planning what I was going to wear inside the park since we found out we were going, which was several months before the challenge. So there, yes I cheated but hopefully I get a few points for confessing! Here are a few pictures from our vacation! Happy Monday!

Give Thanks!

As you can tell there is no outfit no outfit today... again. I had every intention of posting up several outfits to catch up on the challenge but it just didn't happen. Thanksgiving for me and my husband started out at his parents and after we stuffed out face till we could barely move we headed to my family's house where we played Just Dance 2 (absolutely hilarious and my husband beat me!) and watched some old family videos. After a couple hours there we headed to see my Great Grandmother and then headed back to our house for some leftovers! Whew we are exhausted. Anyway this day has flew by! We barely had time to settle into one place before we had to leave to go to another, which I am not complaining about but instead of an outfit photo shoot I am spending quality lazy time with my husband!
This is an email that my dad wrote and sent to several people and I thought I would share it with you! He always finds just the right words to make you think
and it sure did have me thinking!
To All:
Are we really thankful?  I’m sure everyone has experienced the inevitable question during or on Thanksgiving Day; What are YOU thankful for?  Our Thanksgiving Day ritual is to gather all the aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sister together and eat till we’re tired, not till we’re full, but until we are tired.  We watch boring a football or anything that will help facility the upcoming nap, wake up from the nap rested so that we can eat some more.  Two years ago, someone suggested the novel idea of, while we are all gathered for the Thanksgiving prayer, let’s go around the circle and tell what we are thankful for.  You would have thought someone would have suggested we all gather for a trip to the dentist.  I’ve never heard so much moaning, groaning, and wailing from the crowd.  If you’d asked them to talk about the Iron Bowl, or what sales they are going to at 4AM, now that’s something to talk about.

So what is so hard about expressing thanks?  Is it that we just like to do it privately?  Is it too emotional?  I was recently at a funeral and was talking to the daughter of the man who had passed away, she went on and on about how much her dad meant to her and I wondered if he got a chance to hear that from her.

It got me to thinking of a new question this Thanksgiving, WHO are you thankful for?  God has blessed me with so many people in my life that encourage me, that challenge me, but more than anything they love me.  My wife and children love me for who they see, not for the scoundrel I really am.  It humbles me to know that I am loved by The Heavenly Father, the one who knows me best, is the one who loves me most.  So let’s give thanks for the WHO, God has blessed us with today, tomorrow and for every other day……..isn’t everyday Thanksgiving?

Billy

Happy Thanksgiving people!

This outfit made me feel feel like a little kid. I love wearing an outfit that makes me happy. I don't care who looks at me like my hair is 3ft off my head. I love it and that's all that matters. Isn't it funny how when we were little we couldn't wait to grow up and be a "big girl" and now that we are it kind of feels good to put a big flower in your hair and just feel like a kid again. Well it is for me!

This is my "Holy cow my hair is huge" face!

6 of 30

This outfit has many layers and it is a perfect outfit to go to the mall in because its almost impossible to try clothes on because it would take you 30 min to get dressed and undressed. I had to go to the mall today to pick up my husbands suit for the wedding this weekend. The mall was like tinsel town! Everything is already in Christmas mode which means even more tempting! One thing that I am going for as soon as the 30
days are up is sequins! They are everywhere right now and I love them... well I love the looks of them. For now I will settle for my 5 layered outfit and stay far away from dressing rooms.

In a world were Marriage is taken so lightly I find it so refreshing that I have found several bloggers are married! Not to mention married but seriously showing their husbands some love in their posts! I love it.

Marriage has been on my mind lately because this week we are headed to Orlando for a wedding in Disney World. I CAN NOT WAIT! Getting married in the "Happiest Place on the Earth"? Yes please.  I am so excited for our friends and I'm super excited we get to take a part in their day.
Me and my husband Ryan have been married for little over a year and the question that everyone seems to ask newly married couples (besides "when are you having a baby" question) is "How do you like the married life?" or "How is being married?" When we first got married I didn't know how to answer this- marriage was great but I didn't think that I was really qualified to answer their questions after being married for less than 6 months. Ok so obviously being married for a year doesn't make me a expert on marriage but I love answering this question now. Especially if its from a close friend.
I tell them I love it, I really love being married. I love waking up to him, I love coming home after a long day at work and not having to say a thing and just curl up on the couch and take a nap, I love that he gets my stupid jokes and I love when I catch him checking me out from across the room, I love that we have the same goals in life but I mainly just love him.
Most people think that I'm kidding, like I should have answered them another way, I guess tell them that Ryan never picks up his socks or doesn't take out the trash. I'm not really sure what they want me to say. All I know is that I am still after 6 years of dating Ryan crazy about this man. I never thought that my feelings could ever be this strong.Don't get me wrong everyone has their ups and downs, we fight and bicker just like everyone else. (Maybe even more because I am extremely stubborn) But at the end of the day I get to lay down by my absolute best friend and the love of my life. I wouldn't trade it for a single thing!
Whew that was a longer post then I intended. I guess all this wedding excitement and that Thanksgiving being right around the corner had me thinking how lucky I am!
Have a great week everyone!

Today I was off work! It was such a pretty day and although I didn't really get to spend much time outside I could still tell from the couch that it was a pretty day.I have had a relaxing day to say the least! I seriously have not slept as late as I did in a very long time! It felt great!!  I love days where you don't have anything to do. So yes I should have done laundry today but I figured Hey I can take one day and just lay around right!?

So I haven't worn this shirt before in the challenge but the front of it is a little dressy for the shorts and flats so I turned the shirt around backwards and I actually like it! I used to do this with dresses whenever I worked for Clinique in the mall. We had to have a certain neck line and alot of my dresses were V neck in the front so I would wear them backwards and put my coat over the top and viola!
Happy Weekend!
Oh and yes that is our massive overweight cat sitting in the window!

This outfit is about as close as it gets to being in your pajamas, However, not in the least bit warm. So thank goodness for the "you can add coats for warmth" rule because I would not have made it through the entire night!

Sweater, Jeans and Headband: F21, Shirt: American Eagle, Boots: Target
Just a little information on me and my outfit situations! I work in a small office and I wear either a company polo or a company t-shirt to work everyday. This would be why you are just now getting my 3rd outfit!

You know whenever you were a kid and you're Mom would put a plate of your favorite  food in front of you (mac and cheese for me) and your mouth would start watering and Oh my goodness you could almost taste it before you even took a bite. Then she would say "Don't eat that yet its too hot!" and then what did you want to do?  Eat it!! I mean hello its hot mac and cheese! Well this is how I felt walking by a brand new Sephora tonight at the mall. It was so shiny and sparkly and it didn't help there was all kinds of new Christmas sets. However! I made it through with only a few sighs and maybe a little drooling but hey I think that's a normal side effect of 30 for 30 right?! RIGHT! I knew that you would all agree. Day 2 down 28 to go!

1 of 30

I know this is only the first day of the challenge but I love it already! OK so the first outfit was easy but I love knowing that I can be creative with just 30 items. This outfit I have worn before, I'm not sure if that is cheating but I'm saying no because I love all these pieces . I do not love how it shrunk and is much shorter now than it was when I bought it. Oh well ad some tights and that fixes that!
Shirt: Limited, Skirt and Belt: F21, Tight: stolen from a sister, Boots: Target
These pictures were really awkward to take. I usually like taking the picture not getting my picture taken! Also I need a class on flattering poses.*Note to self: Google poses that don't make me look like a deer in headlights! My husband was a good sport though, I just hope he last the whole thirty days.

This is my excited face for the first outfit!

Sunday, November 7, 2010

I am really excited about this 30 for 30 challenge! Actually I'm not sure who is more excited, me or my husband becauseI won't be burning the strip off our debit card for the next 30 days. I have a feeling Dave Ramsey would be a fan of the 30 for 30!

Well there it is, one thing I have already learned is that I have WAY too much black going on in my wardrobe! The only things that aren't pictures are two blazers, and one dress, I'm not going to lie the only reason that they didn't make it in the picture was because they were in my car and I just did not want to go outside and get them. Sad? Yes, however it is Sunday and I have to get in a Sunday afternoon nap or else! Lets get remixing!

Competitive Soul

Being competitive is in my bones!I grew up the oldest of six girls and we all played soccer competitively. (I think that's the only thing that kept my dad from going crazy because he had six girls.) I don't think you understand how competitive I am... I mean me and my husband can't even run together because I like to run in front of him and he likes run in front of me. Its a vicious cycle! So whenever I first starting reading style/fashion blogs saw Kendi from KendiEveryday doing a 30 for 30 challenge. I was intrigued. 30 days with the same clothes and no shopping! I need this in my life. So I am taking the challenge.

Fall30for30logo

The 30 for 30 Fall Challenge, starting next Monday, November 8th.

Get your engine running -- or at least your closet organized because the fall remix is here. If you'd like to participate in the remix, EMAIL me your name and blog address with the subject line 30 for 30 and I'll put you on a link list that I'll publish later this week. You have from now until Friday, November 5th to sign up to be on the link list for the challenge. Be sure to email me instead of leaving a comment, or your name won't be on the list. Then list your 30 items on your blog by Sunday, November 7th!

Ok so... what is the 30 for 30?

The 30 for 30 is something I came up with in April to help me learn my way through my closet by remixing my clothes. So here is the basic premise, I take 30 items from my closet (shoes included) and mix them into 30 different outfits over about a month period.

So you want to try it out? Good for you. Here is how to do it.

1. Pick out 30 items from your closet. Shoes are included in the count, coats and accessories (i.e. tights,  jewelry, hats, gloves, and so on are not.) I won't use a coat yet here in Texas, but you might in say Chicago so I don't want to penalize you for Mother Nature's wily ways.

2. Remix the 30 items into 30 or more outfits.

And that's it! Ok -- not totally.

3. No shopping for 30 days.

Eek! Why in the world would I add insult to injury? Well so that you'll learn to work with what you've got and you'll learn to appreciate it. Learning to shop your own closet will in turn help you learn to shop outside of your closet. When you have to get creative with your wardrobe you discover other ways to wear a shirt or skirt, that you might not have thought of. Or you might just discover that you really like a certain type of skirt or that you gravitate towards a certain type of jacket, etc.

So what if you don't have 30 items? Then this challenge is perfect for you. It's about working with what you've got. I am a style blogger, an overabundance of clothing is a given. So don't worry about that, maybe for you it's a 15 for 15 or 20 for 20. It doesn't matter what you start with, it matters what you can make out of it.

Are you in? If so, email me and let me know by Friday and post your 30 for 30 items by Sunday. Let the remixing begin!

Nuetral Soul

Blogging is so much harder to keep up with than I thought! Now with that out of the way I can start doing a better job with posting and maybe get some followers on here!

This post is a wish-list. I would say that its a Fall/Winter wish-list but I can think of plenty more items that I want to add to my wardrobe before Spring, so for now its just a Neutral Wish-list because I just realized it is negative on the bright color scale. Anyway these are a few things that I would love to see pop up in my closet by the magic wardrobe fairy. And possibly before Monday because I'm going to try and attempt Kendi's, from KendiEveryday, 30 for 30 Challenge! ( More details to come in the next post.)
